My to do list...........

When G finally goes to sleep, and this can be somewhere between 30 mins to a good two hours, yipeee! it's 'my' time. I want to cram so many things in this space. Finishing food is one, taking a quick shower another, washing, dusting.......how about some French verbs! all very constructive uses of time. But some tasks look better on lists and the everyday stuff gets done somehow! Me, i am LOST in the webworld, curiously seeking some info, aimlessly browsing, or looking up other people's blogs. And there is so much creativity, knowledge, skill sets out there that it can be intimidating, exhilarating, humbling as well as inspiring at times.

I have often sought to look at what other moms do and this is one link that gives glimpses of mothers and their myriad interests, occupations - actually mind-boggling. Here is the link to this blogosphere which is so alive and spirited http://desimomzclub.blogspot.com/. In fact, when i find myself saying i could not do this or that because of G i chide myself and know that is not entirely true. I had a choice on how to spend my time and if i chose not to spend it efficiently, it is me to blame.

Efficiency is alas, my personal Achilles' heel. I set out to do something, and get so distracted doing something else. Efficiency can happen if you back it by discipline. Now these two are powerful combination. And discipline is fueled by motivation. I want to learn French. I do make attempts at understanding verbs, conjugations, nouns, etc, but i feel my motivation is not strong enough. Learning a foreign language, especially in my current non-immersed situation, through books, cds, internet, needs more than some sporadic attempts, albeit on a daily basis to learn it.

French is an example. There are other more important things, like losing weight. I would need to lose at least 5-6 kgs to look better. ok, so it's post-pregnancy weight, but with my daughter being shy of one year, i can't take recourse to that. And try as i can, i do not restrain my somewhat irrational binging. Jogging, walking is next to impossible with a baby and no help, but at least i can watch what i eat.

Efficiency also results from the expectations you set for yourself. Ok, 10 new words today, aerobics for 15 minutes, no eating cake allowed!! Follow this and at the end of the day, you start feeling good. Next few days you keep at it and maybe you have a habit. Alright, these are baby steps to efficiency, and my definition of efficiency based on my most critical needs, but i'm sure it would work. Think positive, another ingredient that can help you be more efficient. Bonne chance!
