Pre - departure sortie...
One from the drafts....last day of vacation!
Wake up early.....
Draw the curtains, look at the expanse of green outside, soft sun streaming in, put up tea...
Exercise resolutions postponed to after you reach home, or home base for now...oh dilemmas!
Draw the curtains close, sun is now harsh... notice the herb patch in the garden downstairs, marveling how you missed it these 1.5 months.
Tea savoured in your me-time - the only reason you get up an hour earlier than the household...
Postpone breakfast decisions to mutual agreement from family, which means more time to free-float the internet...
Acknowledge that you are a gfn social media addict - what with a smartphone, whatsapp, twitter, fb and blog to boot..
But today is different, there is the final packing to be done...
Frantically draw up list, but first rummage for waste paper, you are OCD about not wasting paper...
Jot down list with blunt pencil on back of biscuit wrapper!!! well, whatever.
The dishwasher down for 2 days so make breakfast, serve, ignore any protests, then wash up!
Repeat for lunch, oh, make atta laddus in between, hubby's favourite...
Vacuum - the white kitchen tends to get dirty if you even just stand in it....While at it, vacuum the entire house...
Go upstairs and stuff some more things lying around in a suitcase...the handle's a bit loose
Pray suitcase makes it through the flight and transits and hurl-abouts...pack all least fav.things in it...
Exhort kids to follow suit too, unless they want to leave stuff behind...
Go to tick off some stuff from list, list has disappeared!!
No wasting breath on zeroing on the culprit - the two sitting good as gold in front of TV...
Well, last day, I smile in glee, school beckons, the thought gives more glee...
Move on to make mental notes for to-dos...
Nature has conspired to give us our last day of grey here...
Fridge is full of food to last for a week...
Heart and mind full too...
I am conscious of the fact that I allow myself no time to sit and stare ...to contemplate the state of affairs...acceptance and gratitude and hope and faith....will carry us ahead.
There is someone up there who watches over us!!
