Been busy busy.....

So folks, its the last week of August. If I read my last few posts most of them have been lamenting about the long summer - well in July, it did look lo...on..g. But here I am trying to pack in as much as possible in the last few days of August. I have been pretty irregular in blogging this last one month. Forget writing, even reading and commenting has been choosy and random. I will make it up starting September.

A small update to my previous post, we went to the hospital with lil G the next day as she was still in pain and had had a restless night. Being a Sunday, it was the emergency. Thankfully this time we did not have to wait hours. There was a doctor to see her immediately and he diagnosed it as a slightly misplaced arm which he would set in place. The little tigress was very brave and did not manage even a whimper whilst it happened. After 5 minutes, she could raise her hand and even waved him goodbye. So we were all set for an outing to Amsterdam for Monday and Tuesday.

I would not compare it to our Swiss vacation because it is  unfair to compare a relaxed vacation with a fast paced city trip. But the highlight of the trip was when we rented a boat and the husband navigated us through the canals and that made it really memorable. I was the navigator and did a decent job I think. Another was the visit to Rembrandt's House. There are many things in Amsterdam to do, for example the Rijk's Museum, the Van Gogh Museum, House of Anne Frank, Nemo Science Center,........... but that's for another time.

We also saw Madurodam - the miniature city which is totally avoidable, unless you have nothing else to do in Den Haag. Slight compensation was the kids enjoyed it to an extent. We were sold this by some friends and honestly, it was a waste of time and money. We also visited a really picturesque island outside Amsterdam - Volendam, which along with another called Marken makes for interesting viewing on traditional Dutch way of living - wooden houses, fishing boats, cheese shops, and the typical tourist souvenirs etc. Oh and I did see one shop which sold amonsgt other stuff lovely coral jewellery. Have not seen those designs even in India.

Have had a crash course on some Kannadiga cuisine. I will post a recipe as soon as time permits, which is a lovely protein-packed meal. And am off to try my hand at some home-made pizza. Keeping fingers crossed on outcome.
