Book Review: The Frog & Toad Collection, by Arnold Lobel

Pic Courtesy: Google Images
This collection has 3 books - Frog & Toad are Friends, Frog & Toad All Year, Frog & Toad Together and is part of the I Can Read beginning reader series. It came heavily recommended by the husband and I confess I enjoy reading them too. One can order the books separately too. Each book has 5 stories and not more than 10 lines per page, and loads of lovely illustrations by the author himself. Another thing I noticed is the pages are not numbered. The stories are very captivating, often with subtle learnings, and full of humour which kids understand easily. A book of warm, comforting friendship. Go ahead and chortle your way through.

  1. I love the sound of this series. :) Wouldn't mind buying it for myself, again. :D

I sure am going to hop over to your blog when I need kids' book recommendations in future. ;)

  2. Oh do go ahead, TGND, I love them too. Aww, thanks for the compliment, don't think I really deserve it, honestly we have a very limited collection.

  3. I got one of these for Bro Bear when he was ......hold your breath - 4!! Yeah, an early avid reader :) I also remember a faint fear at the back of my head - a concern actually, about these series - on encouraging gay relations?!! Okay! Chill! That concern is gone, but it was basically planted in my head by friends that had similar concerns arising coz of TeleTubbies, Batman & Robin, etc. There! I said it aloud - first time ever- Phew:)

  4. Yes, reading at 4 is early, wow! Well, well, I've never thought of judging children's books/shows by this particular parameter but you learn!! Personally I feel it is a bit paranoid to view everything with this lens, then of course there are different points of view. I vouch for innocent friendship in this series:)
