Year end and all that.............

2012 ends in a few hours and here I am still scrambling to do my last post. One of the things I had to do was to acknowledge this award, long pending from a very talented blogger  Roshni of www.bigaanlittlea.com.



Thank you very much Roshni, and sorry for being so late, not that I've been busy, just striving to be deserving, he he, just kidding!

So here we go -

1. What has been your best moment so far this year?
When Big G reads on her own - and tells me that I should not be taking a pram down the escalator because of the sign or  tells her dad that he should not be parked at the service station with the music system on, I feel proud of her and a tiny bit of myself.

2. What do you hope to achieve by the end of the year?
I need to be disciplined about blogging and exercising - for blogging, planning to begin with this blogging marathon in Jan, and for exercising and watching food, ahem can I just say I am going sugar free for a month to begin with.

3. Which TV program do you have to watch?
I passively HAVE TO watch Dora and Peppa Pig most days!! I also try to catch Nigella's shows. Not a TV person.

4. Which sports figure, TV personality or movie star do you most identify with? Why?
Difficult, but I can identify bits of me with the Friends cast - Phoebe, Monica, Ross and Chandler. Sorry, not with Joey or Rachel. Of late, also with Inspector Closeau, of Pink Panther fame. Am clumsy, awkward, patriotic, annoying but somehow get the work done:)

5. Where do you plan/hope to go for your next vacation?
Indonesia, Malaysia, Hungary, Barcelona, Japan - the journey is as exciting as the destination. But seriously, I will be heading home to my parent's place in the summer and can't wait.

6. What trait in your spouse drives you crazy (not with desire :P)?
Trying to hold a conversation when he is into blogging/tweeting and thinking he is smiling at some remark of mine! Huh! And having to repeat myself a couple of times NOT!

7. Which trait of your spouse do you admire the most?
His ability to focus and be dedicated to what he sets out to achieve - be it gymming, hobby, work,... Once upon a time me, lol!!

8. Ask your spouse the same questions about yourself and let us know the answers!
He says I am honest and highly avoidable and cranky when I've not eaten:)) Other things I'd best not share.

9. What are you currently reading?
I just finished reading 'Coral Glyn' by Peter Cameron.

10. What music do you love listening to?
I like old Hindi film songs, oldies, hip-hop, soft-rock, am tone-deaf so always open to recommendations. Used to have this strange habit of learning up lyrics of songs I like in other languages........I think I've got out of it now.

11. Which of my questions did you hate the most?
Hmm, No. 4.

    Ha!Ha! Interesting list :) :) I had the same habit as yours - of learning up the lyrics of the songs of other languages but yes, I find myself growing out of this habit nowadays! As far as FRIENDS go, I think I am most like a combination of Monica and Rachel - I enjoy bossing around (though I am not a neat-freak one bit) and I hate to lose but I am a Daddy's girl like Rachel trying to become independent and having good friends around to show me how exactly the whole journey is going to be :) :)

The slow thawing

I realise I am inconsistent in lots of stuff and instead of my usual defensive spiel,  here is a quiet acceptance of that. May 2013 - The Elusive One

Think back to a month in your life. Do you remember any month or period specifically from the sweeping past or present? Maybe the month before the board exams, last month in the hostel eagerly awaiting to get back home, the month before you were getting hitched that was crammed with frantic shopping and plans on the side to run-away solo or when you were expecting your first baby, waiting for the moment and savoring the peace as you balance one of the last books you will read in peace on your tummy.. Goodbye, Mr. Goosens!

When we saw the funeral notice with the name Christoph Goosens in the building lobby we did not quite know what to expect. It was in Dutch, a language we are not too familiar with. Only the previous day I had spoken to him; we had greeted each other and he had grinned his toothless smile.  He always held the door for me, a person of unfailing courtesy. His wife/partner had been put in a psychiatric ward of the Old People's Home a few months ago. The mind picks up pieces of information and makes random connections. I told my husband that the notice probably was about his wife passing away. 'Innige deelneming' - is what you say in Dutch to express condolence. I was wondering what I would actually say when I met him. We realised our mistake when another neighbour informed us that it was the man himself who had passed away in his sleep Monday night.
