Zoutons.com: Website Review

Zoutons.com is a newcomer in the Indian online couponing space. As per a report by com.Score, online bargain hunting with the use of coupons and discount codes is becoming a big business opportunity in India, with one in 10 Indians visiting coupon sites. Zoutonspositions itself as not merely a coupon aggregator but also as a deal discovery portal. With it's enticing tag line 'The loot is on', the portal has a bonanza of offers from upwards of 300 eCommerce stores, showcasing more than 450 brands and tie-ups with 50 banks.

Home Page

What really struck me as a first-time user was the site design and ease with which I could go around and check things out. The home page consists of 4 main tabs where the coupons are advertised (see above).

The first tab (pic shown below) Top Categories is a very comprehensive categorisation of the coupons aggregated by the site for different product and service offerings. The range is extensive - from books to electronics, entertainment, apparels, kitchenware, recharge coupons, travel, etc. There are also tabs for coupons offerings from Top Stores, Top Brands and a fourth tab for banks to highlight further discounts based on the payment mechanism one uses whilst paying for the merchandise.

Do not miss the 'Submit your coupon' option. In case you have discovered a new coupon which is not available on Zoutons.com you have the option to submit it here. Doesn't that make it a nifty deal aggregator?

The site also makes it user for a first-time user by highlighting the popular store, popular coupons, latest coupons, so one can never really miss an offer in what one is looking for. Alternatively, you can subscribe for daily updates on deals. In case you are looking for something very specific, you also have the option of searching through your popular stores via the search bar. And all the coupons available for that particular store will be displayed. Myntra, Jabong, Snapdeal, Ebay, Amazon are the popular hits from this site, but the site also gives visibility to upcoming stores and online SMEs.

How does one use these coupons :

On the site, it is rather simple. You can browse through the offers available and click on 'Activate the deal'. This takes you direct to the retail outlet online where the discount coupon gets activated once you make your purchase. Another way it works is with the 'Click here to see the code option' where the discount code gets copied to your clipboard and you paste the code in the promotional codes section of the merchant site before checkout.

The site also tells you similar discounts offered on other products, just in case it helps you make up your mind to purchase. I also like the fact that I can zero in on a product and then search for the best discount available for the same.

I give a thumbs-up to the Zoutons.com site for the following -

1. Clear and concise categorisation of coupons on various parameters
2. Easy navigability of site for a first-timer
3. Visually appealing website, no over-crowding of icons
4. A search bar to look for that "elusive" product
5. Updated coupons for most categories, which work
6. Option to give feedback on coupon use and validity

Only one thing, can't help wondering if the site can reach a wider audience if it is in multiple language formats. I am not a regular user of coupons and deals online. However merely browsing through the website has changed my perception and opened a myriad of saving possibilities for me. The virtual window shopping experience was certainly very appealing for me.  I am most definitely signing up for the site and looking forward to a discounted online shopping experience here.

  2. Interesting... I learnt about coupons, both online and in-store(mostly) after coming to the US... Good to know India is catching up too(but i also feel coupons, deals etc make decisions tougher! At times, am tired of having way too many choices to choose from)

    1. I am so with you Gayathri! Too many choices is a bad bad thing for a person for me, makes it difficult to choose.
