March was ....
A mix of many things. March has always been a long month....longer than rest of the months with 31 days..and always with some focused action or activity or general chaos This time March was no different. Our tenant terminated the lease midway and we had a few weeks of disquiet in deciding what to do next and how to resolve this. Staying so far has its own challenges. My dear father came to our rescue and was ready to travel for a few days to get this done for us. Given his age, the last thing I would have wanted is to trouble him but when he saw our situation he offered to help... and am extremely grateful that we could manage to resolve this. Sometimes I have to remind myself that "leaning in" is an option that I must deploy at times because I simply can't do it all.
March also marked the 15th wedding anniversary for us. We don't do much on birthdays or anniversaries normally, for the adults in the house, that is. This time we went out for lunch to a lovely Italian place. And V gifted me a Fitbit. I must say that I have taken to it and have been walking my Fitbit or with it, same difference, mostly diligently :)
Big G has been catching up at a fast and furious pace with her studies. Reading with lil g is ongoing and we both look forward to it. We tend to sit with our story books, armed with a dictionary or google translate at a hands reach, yes preparation is part of it all. Also started reading 2 chapters a day of the Mahabharata by Samhita Arni to the kids. So back to night time story telling sessions. The kids like it when I read to them more than their father, who gets his turn twice a week when am away at my language class. That makes me very happy.
It's spring time now. We did away with the sweaters and jackets all of a sudden. The temperatures have risen and the sun is warm. There are spring flowers and lavender hedges which make my walking even more alluring. It is so wonderful not to have to worry about socks, jackets, etc, and have evenings which are a bit longer.
I have started doing some crochet via youtube videos. Progress is slow and sporadic, I get confused between the stitches, so have decided to take up a project instead of practicing randomly. And I've even managed to do the magic circle. Crochet lexicon is something that I am slowly working my way with.
Err, this reads more like an update post than gratitude one. And it's a bit late too. But showing up is what counts too, doesn't it. Until the next time then, alors!

reading the Mahabharata to the kids that's commendable. i stopped somewhere around the time my daughter got around to reading on her own.
ReplyDeleteI am really happy that we started our reading ritual again. It is actually a bonding session with the kids...With the Mahabharata there are so many characters we often go back and revisit their stories, it's great fun.
DeleteI like your post. Sometimes reflecting feels great. Congratulations on your anniversary! And i regret I cannot crochet. I keep meaning to learn. Hugs and thank you for joining my Gratitude Circle. It is so sweet you read with your children!
ReplyDeleteThanks Vidya...Crochet is pretty simple so you can learn quickly whenever you make the time for it. I like to do something with my hands it helps my mind. Thanks for the Gratitude Circle, it helps laid back bloggers like me to at least post once a month :)
