Mommy's day out

Yesterday was my day out shopping! Felt great, like pre-Gs times when I would go out with friends, without a care in life, indulging myself. It's been a long time since I've done something like that!

So who will stay at home with us? asked Big G. Daddy?? Fine then (knowing she will get more than her share of TV viewing time). Mommy, you get M&Ms for me, ok?? asked lil G. Ono 3, holding up 3 little fingers, and equal for Bena. Fair person she is. I nod. And listen, says the husband, please do buy something. Make a decision for once!! And I did!

I am the world's worst shopper and can try the most patient person's patience. So the hubby is never keen to go with me. He makes up his mind quickly! And I take into account so many factors - the colour, design, price, my existing wardrobe and most importantly, ahem, my figure! And so many a good buys have been tearfully bid adieu to in the trial room itself.

After the kids I'm very anxious whilst shopping, especially shopping for myself. Thinking it's some kind of an disorder in itself. I imagine this huge clock tick-tocking loudly when I'm going in and out of aisles and trial rooms. I then tend to rush through with my purchases hurriedly before the clock can strike. Add to it my indecision, lack of fashion awareness, zero visualization and another crazy thing - my fixation on a particular colour for the day. Well, this Saturday it was yellow. And though I did admire yellow purse (a nice orangish-yellow), yellow pumps, tops etc, did not succumb. Have had to live with the dissonance on previous, so was wiser this time.

My friend A assured me she too is somewhat like me, so we made a good pair. We also bought identical shoes, and similar trousers and also shopped for the kids. Came back home, feeling good, a stronger resolve to lose weight. Since I was tired and there were no takers for the baked manchurian I had slaved on before the shopping, the family ordered for pizza, but me I made do with salad. Also made another round of upside down pineapple cake, which I am trying hard not to eat. Ok, only the crumbs and the pineapple part, fruit is recommended for weight loss, I think.

So how was your weekend??
