Break - a jinx

We were all packed, dressed and spruced up, the kitchen sink cleared of the last spoon and cup, all the cooked food in the fridge consumed, rest packed for the trip, home cleaned as you really don't want to arrive to a messy home, you get the drift............ The husband had to arrive from office, pack (sigh! we are a bit last minute types!), maybe a cup of chai,  and then we were all set to leave. Bookings were done (again, last minute but never mind) and in my chaste French, yes this time, I was more confident!!

And then he called to say there is this last minute work! Sigh! There is this vacation jinx with us. For the last 3 years we've been planning to go to places and its so not happening. It is either chickenpox for the kids, or peak  summer (read expensive), or losing wallets and our id cards, or then of course there is an urgency at work!! It's almost as if there is a hidden spycam in our house and as soon as we are seen checking lonely planet, trip advisor, tourism sites that there is this little interference that raises its head and we have to retreat from our plans. We did make some last minute trips - but they aren't well planned, researched and kind of  haphazard.

At all other times there is this inertia! I can count on my fingers the number of times I have been (taken) to Brussels. But we (read I) are an optimistic and determined lot. Using all the tools in my repertoire -  inhouse promotion, gentle reminders and persuasive nagging, emotional blackmailing, even sulking at times - get the husband to take us out. After all, sabko break to banta hai!

But this time, yay! our trip is still on! Cut short by 1 day only, which means I have to remove some clothes and that is all. I really hate packing and unpacking, but small price to pay. Yesterday saw me busy, planning, stock tacking, organising, but today I am just so.............slow, going with the flow.....not showing excitement/any other emotions, in case the spycams are at work :)
