Another favorite - kela sabji

Another favorite and rarely made sabji in my house- yes, what a contradiction. This one is for me (1 vs. 3) hence not made that often. But the other day, had these bananas (not plantains the green ones, mind you, used specifically for sabjis/fry's/koftas) and were on the unripe side and remembered the last time I had had this was 2 years ago. Lil G was a baby then and this was when  I had stayed at chez parents for a good 7 months.  My father had rustled this up, yes I have grown up to him helping my mother out in everything. So much so that I had a very wrong notion of 50-50 in a marriage, had to hastily correct it in my own, at least wrt help in the kitchen:)

A recipe without much fanfare.

Chop a banana in round pieces, and pound a single clove of garlic.
Put a spoonful of oil, tadka with mustard seeds and asetofida, throw the garlic in along with a pinch of turmeric and chilli-coriander powder to taste. Then the banana pieces, covered well with the spice mixture, top it with a pinch of amchur, cover with a lid for 2 small minutes. Maybe add a spoonful of water in case you feel it's too dry and you are done. Enjoy.
