On G talk

It's time I write a post on the two G's and not hog up space regaling (read boring) my meager audience with my tortoise-pace progress in French, my posts regarding friendships or lack of them........Grow up Mummy!

Big G @ 5 is a delight to be with. She finds her lil sister very amusing and often is bent over laughing at some or the other of her antics or talks that lil G in all her earnestness does. Like when she sings Ba ba black sheep, Hany Many Wool, Yes sir, yes sir, 3 bags full. One ta ta Master, one ta ta ta & one ta ta little boy who lives down the lane.

Big G has this innate sense of fashion. She had this pink-loving phase for a long long time and once when we got back shopping some pink stuff, she very coolly informed me she has started loving red!! She loves doodling and drawing and it is one of her drawings that I've used in my header photo. She will rearrange things and colors and  I admit, she has a flair for design. She has a lot and lot of questions, that I admit, I get impatient with sometimes. Some of them can be pretty absurd (to an adult, of course).

Her latest concerns are, what colour blood does a Moroccaine have? ( one of her school friends is a Moroccan). An obsession with skin colour (she is the only Indian in her class) and thinks I am European because I have a lighter complexion than hers and feels that is not fair!! She want's a Belgian flag, not an Indian because she likes the colours in the Belgian flag. However does one explain patriotism and such virtues then? Most things revolve around colour. Like when she told me she would eat peas and beans, if only they were pink WTH????She can make comparisons too and understands them when used to explain differences.

She is a small, nice, sensitive child with a mind and will of her own. I admit that I get bugged sometimes by her willfulness, especially when it slows us down but secretly I admire it. Stay that way, my girl, do not give in to anything/anyone easily. And now, if you only eat some green vegetables, we can do some real smooth sailing.

Lil G @ 2.8 is a walkie talkie doll. In a strange contradiction I want her to grow and also be my baby, because she is the last baby I will ever have. She is a free spirit. Love the way she chooses all 3 of us - when I ask her whose darling baby you are - mama, daddy and bena. She picks up songs, nursery rhymes just like that. She loves cocklate, cossa (croissant) and mugali (mulangi sambhar). She has just started school full time this week and I am hoping it goes well with her.

She loves to cuddle into us, our Bundle (potli). She and her sister have this amazing rivalry-camaraderie which works on its own rhythm. In fact, the fighting sisters will happily gang up against a third, yes even against mum and dad :) And of course, she wants to do everything her sister does. So she insists on her time on starfall, and with books and makes sure she is not left out. The other day my husband asked her to get him tea and she explained - when i be like mama, i get tea for u daddy! The lil imp still insists on a diaper to do kaka, and refuses to sit on the potty. Any suggestions, anyone?

And me as a Momma, has her hands full, with a smile-frown on her face, and my most cherished moments are my times spent with them.
