Monday Morning....info request

And I'm up like a with the lark......he he, nice song, isn't it. Though I still haven't got around to a walk in the park and all that. Kids are off to school and I have some time to plan my day the way I want to. I am happy that we'll be completing one week of the Blogging Marathon and I have not played hookey yet.

Big G has been asking me a lot of questions - for the factual stuff I have asked for some time to give her the correct information. In no random order here's some things she asks -
1. What are feathers made of?
2. What are good bacteria and bad bacteria and what they do?
3. Why are poo and farts stinky? Exactly what bacteria and gasses, respectively?
4. Why do we feel ticklish?
5. How does tree cover help in winter as there are no leaves anyway?
6. A general idea of what foods contain what nutrition - so I can answer which is more healthy - paratha wirh pickle or pancakes:)
7. Will be reborn as humans or something else?
8. What is glass made of?
9. Why did God give me a fat mama?
10. How does one learn to read?
11. Is playing on the I-pad called sport?

And I have one question for you readers, how do you track information and news? For instance, if one is interested in say gold prices, music of A R Rehman, mutual funds, happening travel destinations, Bollywood film reviews, news in India, world, etc I know one can track this with google alerts. Is that what everyone uses, or are there some other applications (for information aggregation) which allow one to catch up on news and various categories of it, blogs, interesting tweets, links, etc? Please do share. And also how do you save information so that you can reach it when you want it - which applications do you use?

I'd really appreciate your inputs. Thanks in advance.

  1. Hi Wren,

I usually look through online journals and maybe some newspaper articles...If there are any topics there that fascinate me, I check Google for more links related to that pertaining topic. Google is usually my prime source of information - I use it to track other relevant sites...Otherwise I rely on my friends for information. For example, magazines like Conde Nast Traveler are good for information on travel destinations (http://www.cntraveler.com/ is their online page)...Similarly I read a lot of articles on Psychology Today (http://www.psychologytoday.com/) - On Twitter, I follow a lot of these news channels and get tweets and links about daily happenings :) :)

    1. Thanks Divya, this is when one is actively looking for news and information. I am looking for a solution besides the one I mentioned when information/news on topics that interest you can be aggregated.

    :)

Reg. information aggregation I usually use browser bookmarks with categorized folders inside. used to export them once in a while and save as html. For ex: right now I have folders like Adi Learning, Ani Songs, Crafts, Cooking etc..
For blogs, news and interesting websites that has RSS feed I use Google Reader. For images I use pinterest.
    Hope this helps..
