Early bird...Blogging Marathon Post 3
Did not want to talk about favourite weather which was today's prompt. I love a bit of sun, all the time. Especially here, where you can have four seasons in a single day, and rain is a constant. Weather blues are pretty common here. Today, for a change in the holiday season, I am up earlier than the rest of the household and that's me - an early bird. I am my best early in the morning. I can eat the toad or the worm, whatever, and be set for the a whole day with a feeling of achievement and contentment.
All my school life and work life, I had to get up early and did it without protest. Down a glass of milk, bath and get ready to be on your way. The morning light has a sense of softness, the day has a heady sense of anticipation and promise. Yes, even the maddening crowds of the Mumbai locals could not spoil it for me. Of course there was only me and later on two of us to take care of. My husband is the night owl, so he'd be finishing his sleep quota when I'd leave home for work.
Time blurs, especially after kids are born and you stay-at-home. There is no distinction or the privilege of preferences when you are on call 24*7. I don't complain now that I get my 7-8 hours of sleep straight. I need a lot of sleep, more as an escape, I also think. So, I am the designated early riser of the household. Begin my day emptying the dishwasher and putting up tea. Followed by packing lunch boxes. Sip my tea and plan for the day. Catch up on news, blogs, etc, till it's time to wake and shake the rest of the household. Nothing new, eh, same story in all households. If only I added a bit of yoga in the mix. No idea what stops me, besides sheer laziness.
Also thankful I am not late for today's blog post. I hate being late. What about you - are you an early bird or a night owl?

I am an out and out night owl...I can stay up whole night!! But waking up early is not my cup of tea.. Most of the days either it's hubby or Zini who wakes me up!!
ReplyDeleteOh and I love to sleep too :) Though not as an escape, as when I am disturbed I can't sleep, I just lay awake then...
I think you are doing a great job!!! I mean waking up early and then accomplishing so many things before everybody else wakes up is impossible for me!!
Wow, I can't stay up very late. I am totally like a zombie the next day! People do so much more with their time, I should be doing that too!
DeleteBeen here after a long time CW!
ReplyDeleteI can't really say whether am a morning person or night owl. I can stay up quite late and wake up really early too and some of the best work I have done is in the afternoons.
Rise up to the occasion, that's what you do Maddie:) Welcome back!
DeleteEarly to bed and late to rise...would be what I would have. But with husband's late working hours and two school going kids I have neither the luxury of going early to bed nor the time to sleep late in the morning. So that's it!
ReplyDeleteWow, that can be tought Antara. Welcome here! I have some days like this and I know it's not easy.
DeleteHey it's my first time here! :) I'm definitely not a morning person.. Especially over the weekends, I wake up late and am super-unproductive for most of the day! And then around 6 pm, I realize that I didn't get anything done, and stay up late to finish stuff!
ReplyDeleteEven for this blogathon, I usually finish writing a post just before midnight! :p
Welcome Kinmin! I've also sneaked in my post just before midnight at times!
DeleteOh! I am definitely an early riser of the household. I also don't like to be late and strangely I also think that sometimes sleep is more of an escape :)
ReplyDeleteLol, Jas, seems like we have something in common here!
